Q. Can Utrogestan (micronised progesterone) 100mg be given continuously? 

The recommended dosing regime is 200mg daily at bedtime, for twelve days in the last half of each therapeutic cycle (beginning on Day 15 of the cycle and ending on Day 26). Withdrawal bleeding may occur in the following week. Alternatively 100mg can be given at bedtime from Day 1 to Day 25 of each therapeutic cycle, withdrawal bleeding being less with this treatment schedule. These two dosing regimens are based on the comprehensive licensing studies for Utrogestan 100mg.1

Q. Is Utrogestan 100mg body-identical? 

Utrogestan 100mg is body-identical HRT containing progesterone, which is identical in molecular structure to the hormone progesterone made in the body.2 The hormone is extracted from plant base consisting of yams.2

Q. Can Utrogestan 100mg be used vaginally? 

Utrogestan 100mg capsules are not indicated for vaginal use. Utrogestan 100mg capsules are licensed for oral use as an adjunctive treatment with oestrogen HRT in postmenopausal women with an intact uterus.1
